FREE! Doom Checklist for Neurodivergents
Is the world really ending, or are the lights just too bright? Check this list before giving up!
Sometimes when I feel on the brink of a meltdown or shutdown, turns out all I actually need to do is dim the lights and eat a snack.
Many neurodivergents struggle with interoception — a lesser-known sense that helps us interpret our body's signals. You may find it difficult to notice or correctly interpret sensations like hunger, fullness, temperature, or thirst. These difficulties can also impede our ability to regulate ourselves effectively.
When our interoception isn’t working correctly, it can be helpful to do a “manual” check-in with our bodies. That’s what this list is for. Whether you’re understimulated, overstimulated, or on the verge of a meltdown, this checklist will help you figure out if everything really is horrible or if you just have to address a basic need or two.
Chances are, you can eliminate your sense of doom — or at least reduce it to a more manageable level — by addressing a few of these basic needs.
